A 1928 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University\, he was a published author\, and was involved with multiple civic organizations\, both locally and nationwide. Among his many adventures\, he was instrumental in rounding up three elephants from the John Robinson Circus and parading them through Delaware's northwest neighborhood area for a photo shoot.
