A twirl of the fan, folding it closed or dropping the fan to the floor spoke volumes in the Victorian era. Learn how the Victorians messaged one another with a twist of a fan. Attendees receive an antique fan to take home. Learn the history of tea and tea manners, plus the proper way to use tea accoutrements. Enjoy our special Nash tea blend, along with an array of sweets and savories. Pam Allen, tea etiquette enthusiast will demonstrate how to drink tea and how to signal your server that you do not want any more tea. She will share how to use all the tea accoutrements including a lemon nappy, a tea strainer for loose tea, and when to add your milk to the tea. Beverly Larson will demonstrate how Victorian women communicated their wishes to a possible beau: Wait for me-open fan wide; I love another-twirl fan in right hand; I am married- fan slowly. We will gift each attendee with an 18th or 19th century fan. We offer lots of food including croissants with your choice of pimento cheese spread, jam and butter, blue cheese spread, an assortment of cookies, cheesecake, petit fours, nuts, and more.
