Description
Tour our Stratford homes and hop in a sack race. Evoking the Stratford paper mills, make cyanotypes and marbled papers using 1800 techniques Tour our historic Stratford homes - the Millworker Cottage and the Meeker Homestead - to better understand the lifestyles of Stratford town residents over the years. Make & Take at Meeker Homestead Museum: Stratford was a mill town throughout the 1800’s where mill workers made a variety of papers. Using 19th century techniques, we’ll make cyanotypes, also called sun prints (weather permitting), and marbled papers. These were used as the endpapers in fancy books. Participants will take home several decorative papers to use for collages, gift wrap, cards, or handmade book endpapers. Games at Millworker Cottage: Challenge your family to a sack race. This is free event but donations are always appreciated as they help up continue putting on events such as this. Reservations are requested only for the Make N Take as we have capacity of 25. If you sign up for the Make N Take but your plans change and you can't attend, please let Cindy know at ckerr@delawareohiohistory.org so that we can open space for others.
