1st Impressions Landscape and Garden Center was created in 1998 and provides Landscape Design and Installation, Estate Management, Snow Removal and a Retail Garden Center. Job Summary
The Crew Leader is responsible for leading a multiple person crew in landscape installation and maintenance services during the growing season and overseeing snow and ice management operations during the winter season. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong production skills, crew supervision, and accountability for quality, safety, and efficiency year-round.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Spring–Fall: Landscape Installation & Maintenance
- Lead and work alongside a multiple person crew
- Install landscapes: mulching, planting, bed prep, minor landscape features
- Perform maintenance: trimming, pruning, spring/fall clean-ups, edging
- Professional communication with customer on-site as needed, to validate expected work
- Read landscape designs/work orders and execute to company standards
- Ensure employee and worksite safety following all local, state and federal requirements
- Oversight to ensure quality of work is completed within budgeted time
- Provide real time feedback to assigned crew regarding performance to support their individual growth and development
- Coordinate and collaborate with Field Production Supervisor to manage tools, materials, and daily equipment checks as well as providing timely job status updates including any obstacles, challenges and wins
- Maintain clean, professional job sites
- Lead snow operations for assigned team during storm events including timely communication with dispatch and applicable crews
- Plow, shovel, blow, and clear walks, drives, and entrances
- Apply ice-melt and de-icing materials
- Respond to snow events nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ensure professional, timely, safe, contract-compliant service in alignment with all local, state and federal regulations
- 3+ years of landscape installation and maintenance experience
- Ability to identify basic plants and weeds
- Use of phone-based app to complete project work orders, employee timesheets and other required paperwork
- Ability to work extended and irregular hours during snow events
- Demonstrated experience running various landscape heavy equipment such as Bobcat or Dingo Loaders
- Valid driver’s license with ability to pass insurance eligibility background check
- Previous crew leadership experience preferred
- Snow removal experience preferred
- Ability to lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds frequently and heavier items occasionally
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting and reaching throughout the workday
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs and navigate uneven or sloped terrain safely
- Auditory ability to hear instructions, warnings and equipment alarms
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold and precipitation
- Primary worksites are located outside and subject to exposure to the weather elements.
